WaiMama

WaiMama App Terms of Use

Draft, not yet in force.

Effective date: set at launch
Last updated: 3 November 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you, the adult parent or guardian who downloads, buys or manages the WaiMama app ("you"), and Elma Studio AB, a company organized under the laws of Sweden ("we," "us"), about your use of the WaiMama app (the "App").

By downloading, installing or using the App, or by buying access to it, you agree to these Terms and to our App Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

These Terms cover the App. Our website, waimama.app, has its own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

2. Parents and children

WaiMama is made for children aged about 5 to 8, read aloud together with a grown-up. These Terms are for adults: only a person aged 18 or over with the authority to do so, usually a parent or guardian, may accept them or buy anything. Children are not a party to this agreement.

You are responsible for your child's use of the App, and for the device and the store account it's used and paid for through.

Purchases, invites, feedback, settings and links out of the App sit behind a parent gate, a question meant for an adult. The App is offered in Apple's Kids Category and under Google Play's Families policy, and is built to their rules.

3. What the App is

WaiMama answers everyday questions children ask as short illustrated stories, most with a small experiment to try at home.

4. Try-it experiments and facts

A grown-up should be with your child for every experiment. They're chosen to use things most homes have, and to avoid heat, sharp tools and tasting, but you know your child and your home best, so please decide what's suitable and skip anything that isn't.

We check the facts in the stories and simplify them for young children, so some explanations leave things out. The App is for curiosity and reading together. It isn't medical, safety or professional advice.

5. Purchases

5.1 Plans

In Sweden: 59 SEK a month, 449 SEK a year, or 1,299 SEK once. Elsewhere the store sets the price in your local currency, and always shows the price you'll pay before you confirm.

5.2 Billing and renewal

You buy through the store you downloaded the App from, the Apple App Store or Google Play, and that store charges you. We use RevenueCat to check what's been bought. We never see your payment details.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends on Apple devices, or as Google Play's terms describe on Android. You can manage or cancel in your store account: on Apple devices, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions. We can't cancel for you. Deleting the App doesn't cancel a subscription. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

5.3 One-time purchase

A single payment that doesn't renew. It opens the App's questions for as long as WaiMama is available in the app stores. It covers the questions in the App while it's offered, subject to Section 3, and isn't a subscription. A purchase follows your store account: restore it from the paywall on a device using the same account. Something bought on Apple devices doesn't unlock the App on Android, or the other way around.

If we stop offering the App, we'll give at least 90 days' notice in the App where we can, and as much as we can otherwise. To switch from a subscription to the one-time purchase, cancel the subscription and buy once it has ended, since neither store converts one into the other.

5.4 Refunds and withdrawal

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, not by us: for Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and for Google through your Google Play order history. If you're a consumer with a statutory right of withdrawal, for example in the EU or UK, how it applies follows the store's terms and process. Your mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.

5.5 Price changes

If a subscription's price changes, the store tells you in advance. It takes effect no earlier than your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

6. Your license

We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to use the App and its content for your family, on devices you own or control, under the store's usage rules. You may not copy, sell or redistribute the App or its content, reverse-engineer it except where the law allows, get around its access controls, or use it to build a competing product.

All content, including stories, illustrations, characters and design, belongs to us or our licensors. "WaiMama" and its logo are ours.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely, with no obligation to you. Please don't include your child's name or other personal details.

7. App Store terms

This section applies if you got the App from Apple's App Store, in addition to the rest of these Terms. If you got it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to your relationship with Google.

  1. Acknowledgement. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the App or its content; we are.
  2. Scope of license. The license in Section 6 lets you use the App on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions allow, including through Family Sharing where it applies.
  3. Maintenance and support. We alone are responsible for any maintenance and support of the App, as the law requires. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
  4. Warranty. We alone are responsible for any product warranties, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to meet a warranty, you may notify Apple, which will refund any purchase price for the App. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses or costs from such a failure are ours.
  5. Product claims. We, not Apple, handle any claims by you or anyone else about the App or your use of it, including product liability, failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  6. Intellectual property claims. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any claim that the App or your use of it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
  7. Legal compliance. You confirm you're not in a country under a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and not on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer name and contact. Questions, complaints or claims about the App go to Elma Studio AB, using the details in Section 1.
  9. Third-party terms. You must follow applicable third-party terms when using the App, such as your data plan.
  10. Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

If we haven't provided our own license agreement when you download the App, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies instead of Section 6 and this section, to the extent Apple requires.

8. Warranties and liability

The App is provided "as is," and we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid for the App in the previous 12 months and 500 SEK.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or gross negligence, or anything else that can't legally be limited, and nothing affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.

9. Ending

You can stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or stop offering the App, in whole or in part, and may restrict access if these Terms are materially breached. Section 5.3 covers one-time purchases if the App stops being offered.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll give reasonable notice, and a change affecting a subscription won't apply before your next renewal, so you can cancel first.

11. Law and disputes

Swedish law applies, and disputes may go to the Swedish courts, with Malmö tingsrätt as the first instance. If you're a consumer in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live and may also go to court there. Consumers in Sweden may refer a dispute to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN).

12. Other

If part of these Terms is invalid, the rest still applies. These Terms are written in English; if we provide a translation and they differ, the English applies unless local law says otherwise.
